„If you're looking for the Tuscan villa of a lifetime experience, you need to book Villa Santa Maria. The inside of the villa is everything you could imagine a villa in Tuscany to be. Beams, stone work, high ceilings, multiple fireplaces and well appointed bathrooms. The grounds and the setting are beyond spectacular. Well maintained olive groves, hillsides of rosemary bushes, gorgeous side garden, an immaculate pool, and a patio overlooking the Tuscan countryside with Lake Trasimeno in the distance. The sunsets from the patio are beyond words. The owner and the caretaker could not be nicer or more accommodating. You are a 10 minute walk to enter the walls of Cortona and no more than an hour and fifteen minutes to get to any of the Tuscan cities or hill towns you'd want to visit. My only regret is that I didn't book it for a month. It was a spectacular experience.“

„Gorgeous home in a wonderful location - just a 10 minute walk through the olive grove and up the hill to the walled village of Cortona. The home is very comfortable with lovely antiques and many original features. We especially loved the large fireplace in the main house. The views, especially at sunset, are spectacular. The pool is gorgeous and would be a great benefit if visiting in summer months. It's a very serene and tranquil location but also very close to many wonderful Tuscan villages and cities to explore. The host is kind and friendly, offering to assist as needed. We were surprised to learn the host resides in the house as well in a private apartment. It wasn't an issue as we were all quite separate and private, but just something I'd prefer to know in advance. The other surprise was that the refundable deposit is required in cash/Euros. We knew it was due upon arrival but since we paid by credit card, we thought we'd be charged the deposit by card too. Again, not a problem but just good information to know in advance. Our only suggestion for the owner is to try to improve the wifi signal. While "unplugging" is wonderful, we did need to connect with our work but found it difficult due to lack of signal. We highly recommend this property and would select it again without hesitation.“

„Great location with lovely views over the surrounding countryside. Villa ideal for our group of 8 over 60s (7 night stay). Short walk to Cortona, last part uphill but quite manageable - Cortona is full of slopes anyway, and all well worth it.“
