Gîte ∙ 1 Schlafzimmer ∙ 2 Gäste

„Overall, the house is as it looks in the photos. The location is superb. We were welcomedby the owners' friends (very welcoming and helpful with my limited spoken French).The 16: 00check-in and 09: 30 check-out times feel tight, and there was sadly no flexibility on thearrival time when we asked to arrive a little earlier due to poor weather. We were told we could not go upstairs. We knew the gite is let as 1 or 3 bedrooms. We did not need the other bedrooms. But the description and the photos clearly show anddescribe the mezzanine level and its seating area. That area also has a larger televisionwhich we could not use. The rest of the house is still large and comfortable for two people, and good value. The only other disappointments were a lack of a shower, a poorly equipped kitchen and someheating issues. The picture of the bathroom shows a shower handset, but there is nowhereto hang it. The pictures of the gite with three bedrooms show a proper shower upstairs, but that was off limits. The kitchen was very poorly equipped (we've been using self-catering in France and elsewherefor decades). No colander or measuring jug, for example. Only blunt knives. Plenty ofplates and glasses. A shame, as the kitchen itself is fine and the appliances are of good quality. The heating worked (the weather varied from cold enough to need heating to warm enough to openthe doors during our stay). There was no temperature control. I think the radiators needbleeding as they were quite noisy. I think it's oil-fired heating, and the chimney for the boileris on the low, sloping roof shown in the photos. The boiler produced a lot of black smoke when it started. One day, we opened a door to thegarden. The boiler started, and we had the smell of oil smoke in the house and had to closeup again. Not an issue in the summer, of course. The house has a few rough edges, but we would stay again, as it is mostly good and has awonderful location.“

„Die Lage des Hauses ist fantastisch. Die Eigentümer sind sehr freundlich. Wir haben eine wunderbare Woche mit Blick auf das Meer und Concarneau genossen. Es wird sicherlich nicht das letzte Mal sein, dass wir hier in Le Cabellou unseren Urlaub verbringen.“
